[edit] Overview
As a Battle Mage, being fast moving with chaser and other buffs while not getting hit and managing mana from aura shield all while doing combos is the general playstyle. Skills that don't cost clear cubes don't cost much mana at all, even chaser launching for the most part unless used excessively, so mana lost from mana shield generally isn't an issue unless you are spamming clearcube skills like golden spear. You are a Battle Mage and mana is your life - so if you find yourself taking too much health damage it's probably because you ran out of mana or your shield got disenchanted.
Overall, the main strength of a Battle Mage is that they have high-close up damage, especially with chaser buffs. It increases to almost exponential levels upon awakening with the passive buff and combos. Also, you have damage types of both magical and physical and of basically every element, so you can find a weakness for nearly any mob. Once the mage becomes a battle mage, the normal attack rotation also becomes much more useful, and the mage no longer falls down while charge attacking.
Battle Mages do tend to take more damage then typical melee classes, even factoring in mana shield. Don't become too confortable with the mana shield either - once you get to level 40, there will be mobs that will spam the mana shield off and you will become a glass cannon very quickly. Another weakness is the lack of party support - and by lack I mean zero, nada, none. However, since they have good damage they aren't looked down upon in groups, in fact in groups you can avoid being the target of mobs for the most part and avoid the glass cannon weakness for the most part and just do lots of damage.
[edit] Skills
- Concentration Aura Shield
- Passive skill that increases the MP efficiency of Mana Shield by 50%.
- Dragon Flower
- This passive ability stops the Battle Mage from falling over when using her dash attack and not connecting the blow with an enemy. Also changes the normal mage attack cycle to a Dragon Fang-Palm Blast-Full Swing style combo. One of the keys to fighting with the new style is to control the movement of the Palm Blast portion with the front and back arrow keys - same as normal palm blast. Middle has mid movement, forward a lot, back stays put similar to the normal mage 3-hit cycle.
- Leather Armor Mastery
- Passive skill that increases physical crit, physical attack speed, strength, intelligence, and MP regeneration for wearing Leather Armor.
- Launch Chaser
- This skill launches a generated chaser at an enemy. Only one chaser per hit can be launched, and only within a very small amount of time after the hit. Chasers gain in power as the Battle Mage's combo amount gets higher, even obtaining small area of effect capability.
- Cancel Heaven Strike
- Allows Heaven Strike to be cast instantly any time within the Battle Mage's standard 3 hit combo.
- Cancel Dragon Fang
- Allows Dragon Fang to be cast instantly any time within the Battle Mage's standard 3 hit combo.
- Cancel Palm Blast
- Allows Palm Blast to be cast instantly any time within the Battle Mage's standard 3 hit combo.
- Cancel Round Dance
- Allows Round Dance to be cast instantly any time within the Battle Mage's standard 3 hit combo.
- Cancel Full Swing
- Allows Full Swing to be cast instantly any time within the Battle Mage's standard 3 hit combo.
- Spear Mastery
- Each rank of this skill increases damage done with spears by 2% and critical strike rating by 1%, to a maximum of 10 ranks.
- Pole Mastery
- Each rank of this skill increases damage done with Poles by 2% and critical strike rating by 1%, to a maximum of 10 ranks.
- Colorless Chaser
- Generated upon landing the 3rd strike of the Battle Mage's standard 3 hit combo upon an enemy. Launching the chaser provides a buff to movement speed for a short duration.
- Fire Chaser
- Generated upon landing Palm Blast upon an enemy. Launching the chaser provides a buff to physical attack.
- Water Chaser
- Generated upon landing Dragon Fang upon an enemy. Launching the chaser provides a buff to physical defense for a short duration.
- Light Chaser
- Generated upon landing Heaven Strike upon an enemy. Launching the chaser provides a buff to attack haste for a short duration.
- Dark Chaser
- Generated upon landing Round Dance upon an enemy. Launching the chaser provides a buff to physical critical rate for a short duration.
- Auto Chaser
- Generates the last chaser that was generated manually by each ammount of time shown in the description.
- Round Dance
- The Battle Mage grabs an enemy with her weapon, and swings them over top of her head and slams them into the ground on the other side. The slam damages all enemies withing a small area of effect.
- Full Swing
- The Battle Mage swings her weapon in a circle around her, doing substantial damage to all enemies it hits. The range of this attack is greater to the front of the Battle Mage than behind her.
- Chaser Press
- The Battle Mage jumps up and consumes all chasers currently active, then slams her weapon into enemies on the ground. The damage of this move is dependent upon the amount of chasers active and their power.
- Continuous Lightning Strikes
- The Battle Mage stabs her weapon out on front of her numerous times in quick succession.
- Meteor palm
- A lot like Palm Blast, but faster and stronger and the Battle Mage returns instantly to her starting position upon completion of the skill. The enemies hit by this skill get launched upwards instead of away.
- Dragon Spear (a level 45 skill)
- Quoted from onrpg.com - "The 45 skill is the big dragon spear thing. Thrusts a long spear forward, grabs enemies shoots a bunch of exploding dragonballs into them and finishes it off with one big explosion."
[edit] Awakening - Bellatrix
- Battle Groove
Passive skill that increases damage when doing combos, starting at 8, maxing at 80. You get rank 1 for awakening.
- Transform Teana
Transforms the Battle Mage into Teana the Goddess of war. Only has one type of chaser, has access to no abilities. However, it does have a very long range normal combo, a better charge, and does a lot of damage overall.
- It costs 7 clear cube pieces
- You need to have 4 chasers in order to transform
- The transform itself has a mid cast time; you don't want this interrupted
- You don't get rank 1 of this skill, you need to spend skill points on it, and it's 50 a rank
